CRUCIFYRE – Black Magic Fire

The second album from Sweden extreme metal quintet Crucifyre is a great synthesis of death metal and black metal, along with an element of occult rock that encapsulates the early years of these movements. Songs like "Apocalyptic Whore", the doomy "Pentagram Palms" and blasting "Wolf’s Hour" take pride in sending chill down your spine, the riffing, rhythms, and screams never relenting. When they slow down, there are segments of Slayer’s "South of Heaven" come to my mind- but when they are in all-out assault mold, they can go toe to toe with the best Scandinavian extreme acts in the business.

Expect Erik ‘Tormentor’ Sahlström vocally to rip body parts off and his compatriots to live in their underground mantra – unbridled energy the key, primitive production that doesn’t sacrifice tones for commerciality, and lyrics that extol the virtues of Satan. 10 songs that are not for the weak minded – "Black Magic Fire" contains enough quality riffs to keep an eye on Crucifyre down the line.
