Ashes You Leave is a Croatian gothic/ doom metal that on their fifth full length album "Songs for the Lost" will bring a lot of familiar European bands to mind. This re-issue contains 9 songs, and the 5 piece allow piano and violin to sit side by side with shimmering electric guitars, beautiful male/ female vocals, and this sweeping gothic atmosphere that brings classic My Dying Bride, Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, and Paradise Lost to mind- and a touch of Moonspell.
"Stranded" and "Losing Faith" are two cuts that hit home in all the right ways instantly – and I feel that Ashes You Leave has that longevity factor in terms of building moods and textures to heights expected in the gothic/doom world. So if you missed out on this the first time, here would be a great second chance to get into the band.
