NO MAN EYES – Hollow Man

No Man Eyes is an Italian heavy metal quartet, formed out of the ashes of epic/ power metal act Graveyard Ghost by guitarist Andrew Spane and drummer Michele Pintus. "Hollow Man" is their debut album, an 11 track effort swimming in a dark-sounding heavy metal style with just the right amount of modern crunch to appeal to the younger generation without sacrificing the ideals of the genre. Vocalist Fabio Carmotti has an alluring power voice- commanding attention right from the start of verses in the title track, as he has a lot of Michele Luppi (ex-Vision Divine) melodic comforts in energetic material such as the rhythmic leading "Isolation" and disjointed, Nevermore meets Megadeth-like "Until the End".
And check out Andrew’s impressive lead breaks and solid rhythm riff parts: not your typical shred-a-thon at every chance you can get, he knows how to build tension at slower paces within "SW4QW" and the Jeff Loomis’ oriented "Killing the Liar". You can clearly tell he’s studied at the altar of a variety of power, progressive, and avant-garde axe slingers, developing his own viewpoint on how to make his technique engaging and exciting for No Man Eyes.
With drumming that is heavier and much more progressive than most in the genre (check out some of the crash cymbal work and speed factor for "Mystery of Life") No Man Eyes has the potential to really capture a wide cross section of fans who love down tuned crunch with spirited point/ counterpoint riffing and engaging vocals. "Hollow Man" is a decent start, and I foresee even stronger material with the follow up as the band gain more seasoning and hopefully lots of live shows supporting this release.
