LUNOCODE – Celestial Harmonies

LUNOCODE – Celestial Harmonies

The Italian progressive metal group Lunocode return to the scene after last year’s “Last Day Of The Earth” EP with their first full-length album, the 5 song “Celestial Harmonies”. The first four compositions are much shorter than “The Origin Of Matter And Mind” finale, as that alone comprises 29:34 of the 57 minute album! Vocalist Daphne Romano has one of those serene registers, more in line with atmospheric and progressive rock. The five piece musically have elements of Dream Theater and The Gathering in their sound, but for some reason are very basic with their main riff parts and just don’t hook the listener enough to keep you moving onto the next track.

The sound of “Celestial Harmonies” is very cold and distant as well, not the norm for a band of this genre. Maybe a group to appreciate live, but for now “Celestial Harmonies” can’t hold a candle to the veterans in the field.
