JONATHAN DAVIS AND THE SFA – Live at the Union Chapel

Recorded as part of the ‘Alone I Play’ tour in 2008, ‘Live at the Union Chapel’ gives fans a chance to hear rarely played tracks as well as live favourites performed by the voice of Korn, Jonathan Davis. The supreme recording quality of the album gives very few hints that it is a live album apart from the cheers between songs and some passionate cheering when Jonathan Davis & the SFA (Simply Fucking Amazings) burst into some of the most treasured songs in the Korn music vault.
Davis contributed five songs to the Queen of the Damned (2002) soundtrack, all of which gets performed throughout the 15 track set list, first out of the gate is the opening song “System”. Some of the rarely played Korn tracks deemed worthy to be included in this unique recording is “Kick the P.A.”, “Dirty”, “Alone I Break” and “4 U”. Among the more common Korn tracks included in this intimate showcase were “Hold On”, “Got the Life” and the closing track “Falling Away From Me”.
The musical diversity on this live recording is quite different then what is common for a regular Korn release. The vast majority of the songs are quite mellow with only a chosen few having any aggressive backbone. Furthermore, the prolonged violin instrumental and vocal back and forth between Davis and Shenkar on “Careless” are quite unique experiences. Despite of this musical exploration, the album does not offer a notably different sound than what is expected with Davis at the helm, so if you are not a fan of previous Korn/Jonathan Davis efforts this album does not give you any reason to reconsider your opinion, on the other hand, if you are a fan of previous Korn/Jonathan Davis efforts this is a perfect addition to your collection.
