HIVERLAND – The Return…

This one is a tough call for me. Debut album from Spanish power metal band, obviously well versed in the German speed/happy power metal craft. Decent vocalist, loads of multi tracked choruses, and keyboards often sharing lead riffing duties with the electric guitars. They owe a debt of inspiration to Gamma Ray, Helloween, and Edguy… which means are we really hearing anything original in songs like “Million Ways” or “Tears On My Grave”? Plenty for the guitar hero types to savor for sure – yet in the end, sounds awfully like the same old story rearranged for Hiverland’s sake.
