l3ONDARENKO – new EP out

Solo artist “l3ondarenko” from Kharkiv, Ukraine has recently released a new EP album (mix of prog, experimental, post, groove metal…). The EP is titled “Multipolar Metal” and the name is given by the fact that it contains ethnic motifs of different world cultures (Ukrainian, Nordic, Chinese, Arabic).

It consists of 5 main tracks and 7 shorter and ambient interludes. The compositions have many interesting and sometimes unexpected transitions from heavy, headbanging parts to light and atmospheric ones, sparkling and melodic guitar solos, a mixture of different subgenres of rock and metal (from pop punk to djent), a wide range of moods, which together prevent boredom.

Here’s the album teaser

First main track “Multipolar Affection” does not contain ethnicities, but has other interesting solutions. The track “Промінь” (eng. Ray) contains the melody of the first call signs of Ukrainian radio (1943), which are still used today. This is the melody of the song “The Dnieper Roars and Groans Wide” performed by Andriy Bobyr on acoustic bandura. As a child, the author woke up and went to bed with this radio melody every day. In the composition “沂蒙山小调” you can hear a vocal sample of the Chinese folk song “Yimeng Mountain Minor”.
