Who could possibly resist the temptation of surrendering oneself wholeheartedly to a sparkling new album by the UK’s finest exponent of uplifting and raunchy rock ‘n’ roll, namely The Darkness? Not me, that is for damn sure!

Dreams on Toast is basically the sound of the kick-ass outfit firing on all cylinders and having the time of their lives doing so. Raw, fist-pumping, and highly entertaining rock with a capital R is what we all need these days, and there are few acts out there who inject as much energy, passion, and quirky humor into their catchy compositions as these talented chaps do. The LP is off to a flying start with the rabble-rousing “Rock & Roll Party Cowboy” and the ridiculously infectious “I Hate Myself,” and by the time the gentle and somewhat romantic closer “Weekend in Rome” rolls around the corner, you will wonder what the fuck just happened and why exactly you feel so exhilarated and not least how time seemed to vanish in an instant when in the company of this utterly vibrant and bright-sounding record.

Dreams on Toast is unmistakably The Darkness without feeling like a paint-by-numbers offering by the group; it is simply too vital, vigorous, and refreshing for that. This one is a real smile in every sense of the word and a genuinely cool output by a friggin’ awesome band.
