VITALINES – Wheels Within Wheels

Now this melodic debut LP by the duo sporting the moniker Vitalines is an interesting one. With Robbie LaBlanc on vocals and Tommy Denander on guitars, bass, and keyboards, it is hardly as if the band lack pedigree, and when things work on the album, which they do most of the time, the results are simply delicious and a real joy to listen to. LaBlanc’s voice is strong throughout and sounds incredible on top of Tommy’s muscular riffing and unique tone. They vary the pace and manage to keep things interesting by means of a few subtle twists and turns as well as some clever arrangements, which basically means that you get to listen to a highly memorable slice of melodic rock with crunch and some nice surprises to it. I hope these guys do another record similar to the well-produced Wheels Within Wheels as this one turned out to be rather accomplished and rewarding thing to listen to. The title track and the cracking album opener ‘Judgement Day is Here’ deliver infectious hooks in spades and are the record’s most notable songs.
