NITRATE – Feel the Heat

With their fourth album these cool British rockers have well and firmly established their credentials as one of the more exciting AOR/melodic rock groups out there. Exploding right out of the gate by means of the hook-laden title track, these chaps definitely mean business and sound more confident and focused than ever before, and their songs embody an uplifting quality and are crisply dispatched. The chorus is king, which is evident in accomplished tunes such as ‘Wild in the City’ and ‘Live Fast, Die Young’, and there is something that feels and sounds less formulaic and conventional here compared to some of their label mates and musically similar outfits.

Feel the Heat is a very solid offering that carries quite a bit of punch and one that fans of Def Leppard, Journey, and early Bon Jovi ought to listen to. Pay attention to the superbly crafted ‘Big Time’ and ‘Strike Like a Hurricane’ and if they fail to make you move around and get excited then there is simply no hope for you.
