BLAK29 – The Waiting

BLAK29 – The Waiting

Blak29 sees the awesome Steve Zing (Danzig, Samhain) return with some new material, and him teaming up with Dan Tracey was obviously a great move as the two of them have a lot of musical chemistry together as evidenced by the quality of this 11-track offering. Another cool aspect of this robust output is that Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) and Tommy Victor (Prong) make guest appearances too. Apart from the pedigree of the lineup, the songs themselves are pretty damn good, and there is something refreshing and hugely entertaining about cranking such instantly memorable cuts as the fiery ‘Blackout’, ‘Go Go Little One’, ‘Long Cool Woman’, and ‘Bleeding Love’ up loud. Other notable tunes include the gloomy delights that are ‘Waiting for the Sun to Go Down’ and ‘The Waiting (A Token of Your Death)’. Overall, this is some catchy and infectious stuff that possesses a charmingly intuitive and spontaneous vibe. I guess that is merely another way of stating that Blak29 delivers raw and raunchy rock ‘n’ roll with groove, swagger, and just the right amount of darkness to it. Badass for sure and definitely something that fans of Danzig, Samhain, and The Misfits ought to check out
