THE RIFT – Interview

THE RIFT – Interview

L.A. based act THE RIFT is a trio formed in 2010, three brothers who found their own way of mixing together styles such as Flamenco, Thrash Metal, Progressive Rock, Classic Rock, Grunge, Blues, and Reggae. In the below interview you can read more about the band’s music and current and future plans

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
Hey this is Aris with The Rift hope you’re all enjoy the rock and metal Coverage here on Eternal Terror thanks for reading about us! Our latest release Lost Angeles is inspired by our upbringing here in Southern California & our most ambitious release yet!

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
Honestly I think social media is a big challenge it just takes so much time. And seems very trivial at best but it can be great for connecting with fans too.

When did you realize that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
Well we certainly started doing it for fun and for the ladies 😉 but I realized I really enjoyed the music we were making and make, and always believed others could too. Really hit home one time when we were partying at Brandon Friesen’s house we were having a good time and my brother got so hammered I had to carry him out of there. Brandon gave us some inspiring words and thought we could be the next Muse etc. So after that it really hit home.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
It’s one we were inspired to write by the memory of guys like Kobe, EVH, & Taylor Hawkins. Those are really some of our personal heroes and they all made the impossible. Look doable so if you are a fan of any of there’s check it out!

How does a song typically come together for you?
I will typically summon the powers of Hades and Zeus while Ovais will yield the power of infinity stones, then we wait for a fissure in the earth’s surface. At that point the songs just come out.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
It’s like an orgy for your ears! No but in all seriousness we have been told we sound similar to Faith no more, System of a Down, Nothing More, Metallica, 311, Muse etc. We hope they connect with songs as much as we do & hopefully are inspired in some way, possibly a sexy way. Just kidding or ……are we?

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
Mars is obviously the answer. We would really love to tour Europe or Spain and the opportunity hasn’t presented itself yet but I think fans would really connect with us there

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
Well we went from sucking ass to sucking tits, so I think that’s a good progression. But we still don’t suck as much as Machine Gun Kelly.

How excited are you for 2022, and what can fans expect from you?
2022 has been great so far we’re stoked to be releasing more music and recording our 2nd full length album, touring plans in the works, and be sure to catch us on the #Ivoted festival 2022 in November alongside Halestorm & Rise Against for a get out the vote effort! We’re also up for a slot at the Hollywood Bowl in the fall through the Opening Act Contest so make sure you go vote for us when the voting starts July 11th!
