DEVILSBRIDGE – Endless Restless

DEVILSBRIDGE – Endless Restless

Swiss melodic metallers DevilsBridge and this solid 6-track EP of theirs is an enjoyable foray into the world of instantly catchy (modern) metal with a few alternative rock influences to it. Some parts are reminiscent of In Flames and Arch Enemy while others veer into the musical territories occupied by Evanescence and Children of Bodom. A few bits and pieces even reminded your lousy correspondent of Alter Bridge. Anyway, “Endless Restless” is comprised of tunes containing infectious melodies, big riffs, and huge choruses, and it is certainly a cool listen. Having said that, this particular mini-album does not exactly offer any surprises or take any unexpected turns. Then again, the arrangements are interesting, the production is suitably powerful, and the musicianship is potent all around. It took me a little while to get used to the female vocals, but they certainly complement the songs nicely and add a wicked touch to them.

“Endless Restless” boasts memorable tracks and a decent amount of aggression not to mention a fair share of strong melodies and future potential, but it will not necessarily set the world on fire or spellbind you completely. It simply sounds and feels a little to safe and predictable for that. Nevertheless, it is a cohesive, energetic, and spirited output that fans of melodic metal/hard rock ought to give a try. You can tell that these guys have poured their hearts and souls into its creation, which is praiseworthy in and of itself. Definitely worth looking into it should you be a fan of this particular genre.
