DEMOTIONAL – Discovery

A Swedish modern metal band that hasn’t been on my radar until now with this third album "Discovery". Sitting between modern hard rock and current metal with occasional metalcore leanings, the material possesses massive commercial appeal between the bright use of keyboards, larger than life chorus hooks, and the natural crunch of the guitars and steady tempo grooves present. Growls and clean vocals, proper use of breakdowns, a clean register right along Nickelback lines – it’s easy to see why "All That It Takes", "Mimic", and the 8 other songs can have that male Amaranthe meets Engel angular appeal – just sprinkling the modern rock chorus penchant to grab those listeners as well.
It’s refreshing to hear European bands take North American themes, expand on them, and deliver in return a worthy product that should give dEMOTIONAL more traction in a scene desperate for new blood.
