MADLEAF – House of Lust

The second album from Greek five-piece Madleaf, "House of Lust" has a lot in common with the 90’s alternative/grunge metal market from the USA. Think of the times when Alice in Chains, Kyuss, and Pearl Jam ruled the airwaves – as songs like "Angel Eyes" and the moodier, darker "Mold" attest to the power of that scene still resonating with artists in the current market. Yowling melodies from vocalist Nick Marinos cross over Chris Cornell/Eddie Vedder terrain, especially evident on the semi-ballad "Coming Home".
Musically solid and possessing enough songwriting versatility to keep interest throughout, Madleaf are one of the better bands still playing this style currently. You could easily hear most of these tracks across major rock radio if they were willing to spread their wings in terms of new bands/playlists.
