SORCERER – Sorcerer

SORCERER – Sorcerer

Fans of the Candlemass school of epic doom are most likely already familiar with Swedish act Sorcerer. This re-release from Hammerheart pulls together the first two demos from the early 90’s in a compilation that is technically the band’s debut album (you may be familiar with this release with its original 1995 red cover). The first point to raise is that none of this sounds like a demo at all. The production completely holds up to modern standards. Secondly, it is immediately apparent that the song-writing and musicianship are up there with the best in the field. This record is so good, in fact, that it will easily satisfy fans who are more into the epic/traditional metal side of things – so if Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol are your cup of tea, then you definitely need to try this out. The vocal performance is spotless throughout, the guitars lay down a rhythm with consummate ease, and the leads are excellent too.
Do not miss this one!
