INGLORIOUS – Inglorious
UK based hard rock band that definitely evokes a lot of the old school Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Aerosmith acts on their self-titled debut album. Vocalist Nathan James has garnered attention through his work with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Uli Jon Roth – the rest of the young players include rhythm guitarist Wil Taylor, lead guitarist Andreas Eriksson, bassist Colin Parkinson, and drummer Phil Beaver.
Recording the material together in the same room to keep the songs fresh and free from computer punch-ins or Auto-Tuning mistakes, the songs just have this magnetism that pours through your speakers. Soulful melodies, bluesy-oriented licks, playful interaction between the five-piece plus the occasional use of Hammond organ makes "Breakaway" and "You’re Mine" instant appealers. The acoustic oriented "Wake" gives you the full breadth of Nathan’s warm delivery and sustained note holding abilities, while Andreas offers up a tender, clean bluesy break to compliment the serene arrangement.
Hearing younger musicians perform in a classic rock style intrigues me and gives me hope for the future – as long as bands like Inglorious put their own spin on things, we can enjoy new music once again.
