DEATHLESS LEGACY – The Gathering

DEATHLESS LEGACY – The Gathering

Italian horror metal – Deathless Legacy on their second album "The Gathering" provide a veritable treasure trove of sounds and outlooks that may not be easy on the brain but could sink deep into the body and soul with multiple exposures. Theatrical, tribal, outer realm – sometimes using vocal patterns as another echoing rhythm against carnival-like keyboards and offset guitar squeals makes "Circus of the Freaks" highly entertaining, while at other times the heavier riffing takes center stage while the keyboards convey more of the desire ‘horror’ atmosphere, especially noticeable on the charging "Baal".

Think Powerwolf meets Nightwish in the keyboard aspect, while the vocals have an acidic edge and theatrical nature, sometimes serene and angelic and at other times off the charts in screams and roars. There isn’t a specific band that comes to mind as you take in this 11 track, 51-minute record – horror metal is an apt description and could facilitate Deathless Legacy appealing to more than one sub-genre of followers. "The Gathering" is a record for those who want cinematic aural odysseys that can be power and symphonic laden one minute, then almost extreme the next. Definitely not a run of the mill act.
