ONE YEAR DELAY – Deep Breath

A six piece metal act who fuse punk, grunge, nu-metal and metalcore together, Greece’s One Year Delay on their debut album "Deep Breath" have a dynamic sound for certain. The monotonous semi-rapping brings Linkin Park to mind, but musically songs like "Headhunters" and "Miss You" have this alluring spectrum of bass and keyboard sounds that seem hypnotic. Background vocals and choruses also emphasize multi-part harmonies, where Alice in Chains, Helmet, and Nirvana swirl together.
The North American modern rock radio market would love One Year Delay, but I just feel that the band keep things too safe in terms of the predictable hooks, semi-danceable grooves, and Americanized heaviness to render "Deep Breath" worth more than a cursory pass.
