ALFAHANNE – Blod Eld Alfa

You may have missed Sweden’s Alfahanne on their first foray (2014’s ‘Alfapokalyps’), but with their second album ‘Blod Eld Alfa’ this is a band that are becoming much more difficult to ignore. I actually really enjoyed ‘Alfapokalyps’ and was still returning to it for a regular fix. Until I heard this latest release that is. Alfahanne has continued from where they left off, but they have become so much better at what they do that they make their fantastic debut album almost plain by comparison to this truly outstanding offering.
For those who haven’t checked out Alfahanne before, the music starts out with black metal, but then adds elements of punk, goth, new wave and dark metal to create a hybrid that has all the good things we love about each genre, perfectly moulded into something new, original and exciting.
‘Blod Eld Alfa’ is anthemic, leather clad, whiskey down the throat, fist in the air, hard rocking metal of the highest order. Even with black sellotaped ‘X’s on their nipples, Alfahanne are one of the coolest bands out there. Hopefully with the festival season coming to a close, we’ll see them do some type of club tour and you can discover them for yourself.
