ARTAIUS – Torn Banners

ARTAIUS – Torn Banners

A 7-piece progressive oriented folk-gothic metal band, Italy’s Artaius will not bore the listener on this second album "Torn Banners". You get everything from clean operatic female vocals, growling death male vocals, flute/violin whirlwind action out of Mia Spattini, a guest appearance from Ne Obliviscaris’ Tim Charles on the majestic head turner "Leviathan" – the group leaves nothing to chance on this 11 track, close to 53 minute outing.

Eluveitie fans will flock to Artaius – and hopefully they gain a modest amount of progressive fans too that normally don’t go for the folk/gothic/death aspects. Occasionally the keyboards give a track like "Pearls of Suffering" a mood boost – before the flute and speedier electric guitars intertwine. You’ll never be out of layers to explore with Artaius, making "Torn Banners" a treat to probably enjoy on your tenth or hundredth listen.
