NIGHTGLOW – Orpheus

NIGHTGLOW – Orpheus

Traditional oriented heavy metal here with a good cop/bad cop vocal performance from this Italian quintet. Modern aspect come in from time to time that may be familiar to Adrenaline Mob fans, but this former Manowar tribute band struggle to establish their own niche. Abba’s caustic screams during "Psychotropic" aren’t convincing, and his accented clean work sounds equally painful and often out of key. Musically the guitar work and rhythm section appear to gravitate to power riffing that has a lot of Brainstorm qualities while intertwining groove aspects in line with Ektomorf – but the typewriter clickety-clack kick drums distract from decent material like "Lead Me" and the closing thrash triplet throwdown title cut.

A case where too many moving parts in the musical stew can’t congeal, and as a result Nightglow is a very uneven act that will struggle to gain much appeal.
