ANGELS OR KINGS – Kings of Nowhere

ANGELS OR KINGS – Kings of Nowhere

Resurrecting themselves after a twenty year hiatus, British melodic rock band Angel Or Kings feel very blessed to get a second chance – as their debut album "Kings of Nowhere" contains 12 songs of rich vocal harmonies, lighter keyboard strains, and guitar play reminiscent of the late 80’s period of the AOR/ melodic rock genre. Baz Jackson’s semi-bluesy, commanding tone has that mid-range Mike DiMeo meets Paul Shortino montage quality which makes "Ice Turn to Rain" and cheery "Same Old Love" instant head turners.

I realize they haven’t released a full length to date, but at 57 minutes "Kings of Nowhere" could have been that much stronger if a couple of songs missed the final cut ("A Night Like This" and keyboard swirling "Same Star" didn’t really raise much of a fuss to me). Nevertheless, Angels Or Kings should appeal to those who love FM, Bad English, or Dare, they have a knack for writing killer harmonies and building things up musically to support the vocals.
