HOLY DRAGONS – Dragon Inferno

Kazakhstan heavy metal band Holy Dragons perform in an 80’s speed/power style once again on their latest record "Dragon Inferno". Rough and tumble melodies, heads down riffing, a boatload of dual harmony runs, and drumming that appears to be more cyber-oriented than pure ‘metal’ is the order of the day on these 11 songs. Whether a little slower on "Panic in FBI" or all-out speed racer for "Gunship of Hell" and "Three Ways of Genocide", Holy Dragons lose me because of the weird singing/ screaming combination against similar chord choices and industrial style drumming that may have been played by a human, but sounds tiny and distant here.
All the neo-classical progressive interplay between bass and guitars on the instrumental "Unlicensed Sky Driver" aside, "Dragon Inferno" lacks the proper punch to gain moderate, long term playbacks.
