BIG BLACK CLOUD – Lessons in Fuck You 2

Up next is "Lessons in Fuck You 2," the latest in psychedelic space punk from World Hipster Capital Portland. Big Black Cloud are garagey, messy, dark, surf rocking at times, but always authentic and immediate sounding. The guitars jangle and jar as if East Bay Ray was looking after the FX.

The tracks channel an antsy, neurotic energy. Sometimes it feels like the guys are clawing at their own flesh, while at other times it feels more fluent as they rock out a good old-fashioned space jam.

A welcome enough diversion, but no more than a passing fancy for me, I’m afraid. Fuck you too.
