ANIMATOR – Blacklisted

ANIMATOR – Blacklisted

Hailing from Ireland as I do, I am happy to report that I have had the chance to see these Waterford Thrashers live on more than one occasion and have been awaiting this release eagerly. And I am even happier to say that I am not disappointed with ‘Blacklisted’.
The music on offer is melodic thrash filled with hooky, chanted choruses. If you like your thrash light and catchy, then Animator are the band for you. The songs generally work extremely well, serving up helping after helping of the finest party thrash.
My only problem with this release is that a couple of the songs are a bit repetitive – ‘In God We Trust’ and ‘Ultra 53′ being the case in point – both wear out their welcome by the time they have shuffled off the stage.
On the other hand, Animator manage to capture and transmit a great deal of energy and freshness in their music. Let’s hope this continues, as sadly, all too often bands only sound like this on their debuts.
I’m not too sure what EBM’s distribution is like, but I hope this album makes it out, as Animator deserve to be heard, and even better they are worthy of further releases wherein I am sure they will continue to grow and excite.
