RIVERS OF NIHIL – The Conscious Seeds of Light

Reading, Pennsylvania isn’t well known for its technical death metal scene, but Rivers of Nihil hopes to crawl above the underground with this debut album "The Conscious Seeds of Light". Nile, Behemoth, and Gorguts come up the most, along with a gruffer, Meshuggah-like roar from vocalist Jake Dieffenbach. The band is able to temper their technical dexterity with occasional mid-tempo/slower passages that keep "Soil & Seed" and "Mechanical Trees" from total bullet train madness.

Decent, but once again not separating themselves much from the pack- "The Conscious Seeds of Light" needs an immense riff or melody hook to bring the memories from a short term shock and awe to long term perspective.
