TORMENT – The Damage Is Done

The second album from Italian band Torment is fairly predictable in its old thrash execution. Understandable given the quartet’s early development as a thrash cover act tackling Slayer, Destruction, and Possessed material- so should it really be a surprise that the 8 tracks on "The Damage Is Done" resemble those fast and furious influences? With vocals in the early Possessed/ Death mold and musically tackling a heavy Slayer sheen, most of "The Cage" and "Dissolution" appear highly predictable to these ears- and not in a good way.
Dive bomb lead breaks with expected whammy bar antics, screams emphasizing all the chorus parts, and a rhythm section that struggles to keep things tight in the slower segments- Torment would have been cool 25 years ago… not even close today though.
