ROGER GLOVER – If Life Was Easy
An eclectic rock, singer-songwriter performance from bassist Roger Glover (Deep Purple, Rainbow) on this 16 song record. Guest vocalists include Dan McCafferty on the bluesy slide guitar led “The Dream I Had”, Sahaj Ticotin from Ra on the up beat rock closer “Feel Like A King” and Mickey Lee Soule on the Bob Dylan-like “The Ghost Of Your Smile”. His daughter Gillian Glover also contributes her strong voice to many songs. Overall this is for the softer side of fans who enjoy compositions by Dylan, the Dire Straits and others in that ilk. “Stand Together” features some excellent organ play during the solo conclusion from Don Airey.
Overall “If Life Was Easy” wasn’t what I was expecting – it’s not a poor quality effort by any means, I just have to be in the right easy listening mood to take it all in.
