KOTTAK – Attack

Scorpions’ drummer James Kottak isn’t resting on his laurels with the impending retirement of his main act. “Attack” is Kottak’s fourth solo album and proves James has a great punk rock meets alternative pop songwriting philosophy – short, to the point and hooks galore. His voice has a Social Distortion meets Green Day delivery, and backed with a full band songs like “Hit The Heartbrakes”, “Teenage Kix” and “So Disconnected” also bring The Foo Fighters and Cheap Trick at times to mind. Even when the tempo is taken down to an acoustic ballad closer like “Time To Say Goodbye” the harmonies and funky drum beat keep this from being mere powder puff fluff.
10 songs in 32 minutes – economical, in your face and a great pick me up when your feeling a little down mood-wise.
