MONSTER MAGNET – Mastermind

Although I’ve been a fan of Monster Magnet for many years, I haven’t bothered getting my hands on any of their new releases since 1998’s "Powertrip" album, and listening to "Mastermind", I’m reminded why I stopped keeping up with this band. Quite simply, it is because I heard it all done better back in the 90’s when Monster Magnet started peddling their brand of psychedelic space rock.
Those out there who already love Monster Magnet and can’t get enough of them will probably get this album anyway and suffer that mild disappointment when they realise that it is ‘more of the same only not as good’. Those of you who want to try out their music would be much better off checking out "Superjudge", "Dopes to Infinity" or "Powertrip".
