Second album from this Norwegian black metal trio, who have more thrash/death leanings than really black metal to these ears. Guitarist HeavyHarms’ vocals are discernable, but musically Byfrost have more in common with German thrash and mid-paced Swedish death on songs like “Full Force Rage” and “Shadow Of Fear”. Material like the 5 minute, 59 second “Sorgh” with talking vocals and droning keyboards along with the incessant repetitive one guitar chord ring almost put me over the edge.
With all of the acts past and present carrying the Bifrost/Byfrost moniker, these guys play adequately but don’t really raise eyebrows in a studio setting.
