BULLDOZER – Unexpected Fate

Hardcore isn’t really a genre I have been too fond of previously, but Bulldozer’s thrash/hardcore amalgamation definitely has its moments. The riffing and production is as dirty as an 80’s thrash band, while the singing, particularly the choruses, leans towards punkish hardcore anthems. In Bulldozers case, their mixing of these two genres works like a charm.
Had Bulldozer been a pure thrash or hardcore band I am sure I would have lost interest quickly, but their prominence of thrash spiced up with hardcore elements gives "Unexpected Fate" a nice identity which makes it well worth a check out. The variation also ensures the albums longevity. Just compare the difference between first and last track, and you’ll know what I mean. The last track also has some of the most enjoyable solos on the album.
I must admit that the vocal work does not cater to my personal preferences, but this is of course highly subjective. This album can easily be recommended to all fans of Hardcore and Thrash. There are no surprises in their music, but all over, the quality is consistently good. Be advised though, that this is thrash/hardcore as it was performed 15 years ago, which in Bulldozers case, definitely is a good thing.
