POWER THEORY – Out Of The Ashes, Into The Fire
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area four piece Power Theory take their independent debut album and gain a wider deal with Pure Steel Records. Gaining new drummer Chris Smith following the publishing of this record, they are already in the process of recording their next album for a late 2011 release. In the meantime “Out Of The Ashes, Into The Fire” works off of Metal Church and Saxon-like song structures, straddling the line of power and straightforward metal. The vocals have that raspy, whiskey laced nature, while a lot of the rhythm section stays very basic in line with the guitar parts of each song.
I must admit that there are semblances of hope, but overall songs like “This Madness Is Mine” and the title track just aren’t exciting enough beyond small bar band crowds to really life Power Theory to larger audiences.
