FIREBIRD – Double Diamond
Bill Steer, much like Lee Dorian, has changed course mightily from their grind core/ death roots. Firebird pays homage to the 70’s blues rock movement, with slight get up and go in the tempos from drummer Ludwig Witt. “Double Diamond” is the trio’s fifth full length platter, and a smashing 10 song affair this is. Artists like Cream, Status Quo, Nazareth, Thin Lizzy and the muscle of Clutch comes to mind when taking in brilliant songs like “Pound Of Flesh”, the guitar addictive “Bright Lights” and the power ballad “Pantomime”.
Anyone in their forties or older will relive their youth through “Double Diamond”. Those who need a break from the complex or the heaviness may welcome the power trio songwriting Firebird brings to the table.
