A German doom/heavy metal quartet that feature two members of Mirrors Of Deception (Andreas Taller switching out bass for guitar, and Jochen Muller keeping with his timekeeping drum roots), Mountain Throne release a vinyl only, 5 song EP to the masses in a limited 500 copy press run. Songs like “Endtime” and “The Merry Men” live for the late 70’s, early 80’s European metal scene – devoid of crystalline , precise production methods or the latest technology at hand. Thunderous drums, epic vocals and this foreboding sense of despair in the air aid Mountain Throne in developing their classic oriented sound.
Those who love early Solitude Aeturnus, Black Sabbath and a touch of the NWOBHM era will only be disappointed in the fact that this wasn’t a full length – as Mountain Throne have the goods to possibly ascend the ranks like a Grand Magus for comparison’s sake.
