When some bands seem to mellow with age, Norwegian thrash metal act Manifest clearly have other plans. With Nothing Left To Kill, the they deliver a furious, riff-driven assault that embraces the raw aggression of thrash and death metal while retaining the hardcore-infused intensity that has long defined their sound. Released in September 2026 through Violent Media/ViciSolum Productions, the album feels like a statement of intent: no compromises, no unnecessary embellishments, and absolutely no interest in playing it safe.
Produced by Rune Stavnesli, the record boasts a powerful, direct mean sound that allows the guitars, bass, and drums to hit with maximum impact. The riffs are sharp and aggressive, the rhythm section constantly drives the songs forward, and Stian Leknes delivers his vocals with the usual ferocity the music demands. All in all, there is little room to breathe, but that is precisely the point.
Fans of old-school thrash metal will certainly enjoy the aggression of the tracks, but will not find it too nostalgic. There are heavy melodies spread throghout the songs, and I guess World Is for Sale reveals some of the more intricate details lurking beneath the surface, with its guitar work and memorable solo providing one of the album’s most rewarding moments. Once you get underneath the layer of aggression which stands out at first listen, there are inventive guitar passages, subtle rhythmic shifts, and enough instrumental detail to reward those willing to spend time with the material.
The album’s biggest achievement is its consistency of purpose. Manifest know exactly what they want to sound like, and they pursue that vision with conviction. Nothing Left To Kill will not convert listeners looking for variety, accessibility, or polished modern-metal theatrics. But for fans who appreciate their thrash dark, their death metal uncompromising, and their riffs delivered with maximum force, there is plenty here to get excited about. Give it a few spins and let this album gradually grown on you.
