The Trousers – ‘Necessary Evil’
NECESSARY EVIL is the 7th studio album of the Budapest based hard rock/garage rock band, The Trousers. Songwriter-frontman Zoltán Kőváry started to write the songs back in the spring of 2024, and the first single “Second hand suicide” was released in 2025 May. It was called “an instant rock classic” by a Canadian rock-radio, while the second single, “Restless in peace” tripled the band’s audience on Spotify. The material was finalized in the summer of 2025, and was released in November by Music Fashion Records. Although the band has their own mature sonic landscape since 2013’s “Freakbeat” (which was featured Hellacopters-boss Nicke Andersson), “Necessary evil” is a great step forward.
Their sound became more massive, and the songs are even more melodic and catchy then before – but not in a commercial way. The album is a perfect manifestation of the groups’ unique vision: how to synthesize 60’s groove and 70’s raw heaviness with modern sound, creating something timeless that serves as a soundtrack for a journey in the rock n roll universe. The feedbacks are excellent: German Ox Fanzine and Italian Rock Hard both rated the album 9/10; the former claimed that “this is how a modern rock album should sound” while the latter elected “the self-produced album of the month” in 2025 January.
