Emerging from the frozen heart of Norway, Miserate arrive as a formidable new force in extreme metal, delivering a crushing blend of old-school doom and death metal steeped in atmosphere, monolithic heaviness and melancholic intensity. Drawing deep inspiration from the legendary British bands that defined the Peaceville Records catalog in the early 1990s, Miserate channel that era’s sense of despair and darkness into a sound that feels both reverent and fiercely alive.
Formed in Hamar and strengthened by members spread across Bergen, Oslo, and Kristiansand, Miserate are very much a national collective, uniting seasoned musicians with deep roots in the Scandinavian underground. The band’s lineage includes members from respected acts such as Syrach, The Crest, Funeral, To Cast a Shadow, and Shraphead, and that experience is evident in the confidence and focus of their songwriting. This is doom and death metal crafted by musicians who understand the genre not just musically, but spiritually.

Miserate first announced their arrival with the debut EP A Ritual of Doom in 2024, immediately establishing their ability to balance crushing heaviness with bleak, sepulchral atmospheres. Now, with the new EP Weaver Of Witchery scheduled for a vinyl edition in 2026 via Rekviem Records (formerly Duplicate Records), the band are clearly building toward something even more imposing. Expect slower, heavier riffs and an unrelenting current of melancholy and menace that refuses to loosen its grip.
The new release was mixed by Karl Daniel Lidén (Draconian, Bloodbath, Katatonia), whose touch brings depth and intensity to the band’s already formidable sound, while the striking artwork by Jan Gunnar Nygård perfectly reflects Miserate’s bleak and uncompromising vision.
Doom and death are not just alive in Norway, they are reborn, and Miserate stand at the forefront of that resurrection.
