GLASSCATS – interview

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release, ‘Dust’?:

The band is composed by Amelia Kamber, Jonathan Gay and Alexander Kamber. We started playing together in 2020 during the pandemic. We live in the french speaking country side of Switzerland. During our 5 years of existence we’ve produced 4 albums which are all home recorded and mixed. The covers are created by Amelia or Alexander (Amelia did the one for Dust). Our latest album Dust was released on October 16th 2025 and it features 11 tracks. It took 2 years in the making and was recorded during a 2 week session. The songs are easy to listen to yet have a certain complexity that connects you to something deeper.

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?

Standing out, even so there’s no guarantee. The amount of content available on the Internet is wild.

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?

Accumulated discussions with folks sharing their experience of our set definitely hypes the idea of potential. The moment, emotional state and other factors impact perspective so sometimes it feels like there’s potential and sometimes less.

Tell us a bit more about your latest release, why should we check it out?

Dust covers a wide range of sounds. The vocals are soft and carry you on the rhythm train as you wander in a mystical thought space. The experience will leave you with mixed feelings. It starts off with some kind of intro song then it’s quite tight and then as you go it’s chill.

How does a song typically come together for you?

It’s a bunch of scattered ideas put together trying to make something we resonate with and want to swing our hips to.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

I’d describe it as full.

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?

I want them to take away a moment.

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?

There are many places. Honestly anywhere outside our country.

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?

I’d say it’s grown deeper and more thought through.

How excited are you for the remainder of 2025, going into 2026, and what can fans expect from you?

We applied to some showcases to hopefully export the band. An EP for early 2026 possibly. A live session on Youtube in an abandoned warehouse for early 2026 as well. And future albums but that’ll be in a while.
