What a marvelous musical treat Liquid Stone is. Whispers of Granite consists of two immensely skilled individuals, namely Norwegian vocalist and vocal composer Trude Eidtang and German keyboardist and composer Andreas Hack, and this debut offering of theirs is a superb example of how to weave art rock, prog, brooding folk rock, and atmospheric electronic soundscapes together in a most moving and haunting manner.

The songs are eloquently crafted and Eidtang’s vocals are richly characterful throughout while Hack’s musical ideas are akin to an eruption of colors and flavors. Melancholy looms large in the overall narrative and there is a wistful aura and a profound sense of longing that underpin each composition. In some ways, it almost feels as if they have put music to their memories as the LP exudes a confessional vibe on occasion, most notably in “Hiding in Plain Sight” and “Endlessly.” The production and sounds utilized are nothing if not tasty, and the slightly enigmatic and spectral-esque spirit that permeates the material is both mesmerizing and priceless. The flow of it all is simply unbelievable.

Lovers of dream pop, art rock, and alternative rock should make a note of this fabulous creation.
