SWEET & LYNCH – Heart & Sacrifice

Heart & Sacrifice is without doubt an output that a lot of fans and listeners have been looking forward to. The two previous records by George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) and Michael Sweet (Stryper), namely Only to Rise (2014) and Unified (2017), gained a lot of positive feedback and some good reviews, but how about this latest work of theirs? Where do we stand on that one? Not surprisingly, this is a good and well-written slab of robust and memorable hard rock with several gritty riffs and a solid punch to it. Sweet’s vocals are unmistakable, and Lynch has a certain style and flair of his own that is instantly recognizable, which adds a unique touch to these twelve tracks. Hard-hitting yet melodic, the opus boasts atmosphere and keeps the listener engaged and entertained throughout, and even though it will probably neither set the world on fire nor blow your mind, it deserves a dozen spins as the chemistry between its to primary members has an interesting edge and dynamic to it.

Easy to absorb, well-played, and occasionally leaning more towards heavy metal than hard rock, this riff-powered opus is a worthwhile investment of time.
