VECTOR SEVEN – Modified (re-issue w/bonus tracks)

The synthwave/retrowave entity named Vector Seven impressed me greatly with the Electric Blood and Dark Metropolis albums, and so naturally, I was looking forward to immersing myself in this gorgeous-looking vinyl version of Modified, which originally came out in 2019 as a digital release.

Dark, pulsating, and trance-inducing waves of sound envelop you and instantly transport one to a noir-ish universe that is both attractive and riddled with dangers. The hypnotic melodies are strong, the arrangements are quite clever, and the pace varies throughout. This genre is all about atmosphere and Modified has that in spades. Its thick and swirling soundscapes are deliciously rich and a proper sonic feast, and the cool thing about this re-issue is that it contains three bonus tracks, more specifically ‘Hydraulic’, ‘Trauma Team (2020 version)’, and ‘Camouflage’ with the latter being a real gem. In addition, the superb sounding vinyl is limited to a mere 250 copies worldwide, so get off your ass should you wish to acquire this beauty. It sounds killer on wax.
