THE GROUND SHAKER – Rogue Asylum

Swiss rockers The Ground Shaker are about to unleash this explosive and energetic offering of theirs in May via Fastball Music, and if alternative rock with punchy choruses and crunchy riffs is your cup of tea then you need to check this uplifting opus out. I have yet to listen to their debut album titled Down the Hatch (2017), but this sophomore effort of theirs has a lot going for it in terms of interesting arrangements, thick grooves, and a loud, muscular production. Robust and modern sounding is one way of summing up this focused and direct record, but its melodic sensibilities and overall flow are also to be applauded, and the majority of tracks fare well here with only a couple of duds appearing on the disc. The song material is not without light and shade, but at the same time it feels so immediate that one cannot help digging the music form pretty much the get-go. These guys bring something fresh and sharp to the alternative rock genre, and it has plenty of spark and skillfully constructed compositions to warrant more than one listening session. Three notable examples of what these gents deliver are ‘Day of Sin, ‘King Without a Crown’, and the epic ‘Ride On Me‘.
