CHARLIE BONNET III – Sinner WWith a Song

The seasoned veteran that is Charlie Bonnet III has been out there for years now, touring and releasing raw and gritty music with soul and depth to it. This 6-track EP of his, which is entitled "Sinner With a Song", blends and mixes different elements relating to blues, classic rock, country music, and even a slight hint of 70s hard rock together to great effect.

Whenever I spin this disc, I am reminded of myriad of different bands and artists, most notably early Aerosmith, Bad Company, Free, Steve Earle, the latter Jerry Lee Lewis records such as "Mean Old Man", and Lynyrd Skynyrd, which is pretty fucking awesome when you think about it. The songs have a haunting sense of loneliness and longing to them, and you can just tell that a lot of passion went into crafting them.

There is absolutely nothing new or original to what Charlie Bonnet III does, but who the fuck cares? This EP of his is all about telling moving and inspired stories by means of music and lyrics, and that is exactly what these six honest and sincere pieces that constitute "Sinner With a Song" do. If moody and organic rock with a bluesy edge to it sounds appealing, do me a favor and check this cool little gem out. Last time I checked it was also available via iTunes and the likes. Before I forget, the ever-awesome Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) also makes an appearance on this EP and even helped produce it. How cool is that?
