LORDI – Scare Force One

Looking like Gwar, performing in a commercial-oriented 80’s hard rock style, "Scare Force One" from Finland’s Lordi gives the listener another 13 tracks of moderately fun, easy on the ears material. If you desire pure entertainment value, simpler grooves, and Mr. Lordi’s throaty voice, there will be a few cuts that work – the Accept-ish mid-tempo "Cadaver Lover", carnival themed "Hell Sent in the Clowns", and "The United Rocking Dead" – a slow burning anthem perfect for older fans of Judas Priest or Alice Cooper.
"Scare Force One" is adequate, but I feel Lordi is a group that reigns supreme on a stage- the visual element very important to their imagery and style. So as such, this will probably not be a dominate ‘force’ in my stereo, but an occasional diversion when I need a little old school, commercial oriented pick me up.
