CONSORTIUM PROJECT I – Criminals & Kings (re-issue)

The first 11 song album in Ian Parry’s five part Consortium Project series gains a re-release with re-mastering and 2 bonus tracks of alternate demo/acoustic takes on “Evilworld” and “A Miracle Is All We Need” from the record. “Criminals & Kings” aligns itself most with the latter day Elegy recordings, not surprising with a support cast that includes two Elegy members in Patrick Rondat on guitars and Dirk Bruinenberg on drums. Strong complementary guitar work from Kamelot’s Thomas Youngblood and Vanden Plas’ Stephan Lill gives material like “Garden Of Evil” and “Change Breeds Contempt” the right balance of progressive riffs and darker heaviness to counter Ian’s on point multi-octave melodic range.

With a lyrical premise set in the tumultuous wake of John F. Kennedy’s assassination, “Criminals & Kings” will be requisite listening for all Ian Parry and Elegy followers. Expect more re-issues of the Consortium Project to hit the streets in 2012.
