Something about Poland and their culture just brings out the most atmospheric and emotional laden feel to their product, especially in the rock and metal genres. Tides From Nebula on their second album “Earthshine” went to the mountainside to record these 8 tracks, and you can tell their post rock instrumental base exudes energy, ambiance, reflection, and tranquility often within the same song, such as “These Days, Glory Days” or the almost 10 minute epic “Caravans”. The four piece often let the rhythm section propel the arrangements, especially on a softer song like “Siberia” where the guitar and keyboards are must more restrained and simplified.
Touring with progressive band Riverside during the spring certainly expanded their already impressive following across mainland Europe. “Earthshine” can open up the well spring of creativity, it’s that emotive of an album, and I’m intrigued to see what the future holds for Tides From Nebula.
