SPEED KILL HATE – Out For Blood

The brainchild of Overkill guitarist Dave Linsk, Speed Kill Hate with “Out For Blood” use East Coast thrash as their foundation and add in Pro Pain-like hardcore screams or occasional ventures into punk and groove to flesh out these 10 songs. Vocalist Bob Barnak has a raspy roar almost melding Pro-Pain, Pantera and Crowbar together in tracks like “Behind The Mask” and the Slayer-esque “Slain”. Musically the quartet play decent street level thrash with a little more of an underground feel- which separates their sound from Overkill certainly.
I grew a little bored by their basic approach six songs into “Out For Blood”. Decent soloing from Mr. Linsk kept my interest in “Brotherhood Of Arms”, but I really think Speed Kill Hate need a touch more inspiration or originality in future efforts if comparing against the flock of angry thrash bands coming out these days.
