ORCHID SYMMETRY – new single out

Orchid Symmetry are a Cornish dark alternative rock duo whose latest EP turns familiar nursery rhymes into dark explorations of anxiety, grief and intrusive thoughts.

Formed in Cornwall in 2019, Orchid Symmetry write dark alternative rock inspired by the thoughts that keep you awake after everyone else has gone to sleep. Combining heavy riffs, memorable melodies and emotionally honest songwriting, the band explore themes that sit beneath the surface, from anxiety and grief to the darker realities of modern life. Their latest EP, Nightmares & Nursery Rhymes, continues that approach, pairing childhood imagery with horror-inspired themes to create music that’s unsettling, relatable but ultimately hopeful.

Teddy Bear twists a familiar nursery rhyme into a dark alternative rock anthem, exploring the loss of innocence through heavy riffs, soaring melodies and horror-inspired imagery. It’s the first single from Orchid Symmetry’s forthcoming EP, Nightmares & Nursery Rhymes.

At first glance, nursery rhymes and horror shouldn’t belong together. That contradiction was exactly where the EP began.

Nightmares & Nursery Rhymes explores the uncomfortable space where innocence meets fear. Childhood imagery is used as a backdrop for songs that deal with anxiety, grief, intrusive thoughts, mental health and the darker realities that exist beneath everyday life.

Rather than simply telling horror stories, the songs scratch beneath the surface to ask what the real monsters are. Sometimes they’re the things happening around us, sometimes they’re the thoughts we wrestle with ourselves.

Despite its darker themes, the EP isn’t without hope. At its core is a simple message: whatever you’re facing, you’re not facing it alone.
